FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE INJURIES- BATH INSTITUTION

Bath, (Ontario), February 16, 2009– During the morning of February 16, 2009, two inmates presented themselves to staff members with injuries.  One inmate was treated for lacerations to the face at Kingston General Hospital and was later released.  The other inmate suffered minor injuries and was treated on site.

The Correctional Service of Canada9CSC) and the joint Forces Penitentiary Squad are currently investigating. The institutional routine has been modified as a result of this incident.  An exceptional search commenced on February 16th, 2009.  Visits are suspended for February 17, 2009.

The safety and security of our institutions is of paramount importance to the CSC. The Warden will resume normal operations once it is deemed safe to do so.
