LOCKDOWN ENDS AT MILLHAVEN INSTITUTION

BATH, (Ontario), February 25, 2009 – The maximum Security Unit of Millhaven Institution has now been placed on modified operations following a lockdown to search for contraband.  The unit was placed on lockdown to facilitate an exceptional search following a disturbance this past Sunday that involved three of the ranges.  No staff or inmates were injured during disturbance.  Scheduled visits have resumed.

The Correctional Service of Canada continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this disturbance.

Safety of the public, staff and inmates continues to be the highest priority of the Correctional Service of Canada,
