FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lockdown – Joyceville, Institution

JOYCEVILLE, ONTARIO – March 4, 2009 - In the interest of the safety and security of the institution, the Warden has placed Joyceville Institution on lockdown and ordered an exceptional search for contraband. This follows an incident where an inmate was stabbed in the recreation area.

Searching of the institution is ongoing and normal institutional operations and visits are suspended until the conclusion of the search.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations
of the federal correctional system.
