FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH BY NATURAL CAUSES, KINGSTON PENITENTIARY

Kingston, ON, April 8, 2009 - On April 8, 2009 at approximately 6:20 pm, inmate Norman Clairmont died of natural causes. The inmate, who had originally been at Warkworth Institution, passed away in the Palliative Care Unit at the Regional Hospital located within Kingston Penitentiary.

At the time of his death, Norman Clairmont was serving an indeterminate sentence for Sexual Assault (x2), Sexual Interference with a Female Under 14, Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Assault with Threats to Cause Bodily Harm. He was sentenced on 1996/10/02.

Next of kin have been notified and funeral arrangements are underway.

Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an internal investigation and a coroner's inquest will be convened at a later date.
