Kingston, Ontario - On Sunday May 3rd, 2009, Kingston Penitentiary staff intercepted a small quantity of marijuana from a visitor while trying to enter the Institution. The Security Intelligence Department had prior knowledge of the attempt and briefed the Visitors and Correspondence Department who intercepted the visitor.
The Police were notified and responded. Charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking have been laid against the individual. The inmate’s visiting status has been suspended.
CSC actively utilizes a number of tools in our efforts to control the flow of drugs into our institutions. These include the use of ion scanners, drug dogs as well as the search of offenders, visitors, buildings and living units.
