FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH BY NATURAL CAUSES, KINGSTON PENITENTIARY

Kingston, Ontario, May 19, 2009 - At approximately 02:30 hours on May 18, 2009, an inmate died of natural causes in his cell. He had been suffering from a known medical issue. Timothy Rochford was serving a two year sentence for property related offences, and whose sentence commenced April 14, 2009.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner are called in to investigate. In addition, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
