Kingston, Ontario, June 13, 2009 – Frontenac Institution staff discovered an inmate was missing for the 11:30 am count. A re-count confirmed that inmate Andrew WOOD could not be located on the premises.
Andrew John WOOD was last seen on the premises at 9:30 am. When WOOD was not present for the 11:30 am count, police were immediately notified, and staff searched the grounds but did not locate the offender.
WOOD is serving an indeterminate Sentence for Second Degree Murder. WOOD’s sentence began March 19th, 1990. His day parole eligibility date is February 23, 2001 and his full parole eligibility date is February 23, 2004.
Frontenac Institution is a minimum security facility. It is located behind Collins Bay Institution on Bath Road.
Only those offenders who are assessed as having a low risk to public safety will be placed in a minimum security institution.
The Correctional Service of Canada is working closely with police in an effort to locate the offender as quickly as possible and is investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
