FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DRUG & TOBACCO INTERCEPTION AT WARKWORTH INSTITUTION

CAMPBELLFORD, ON – JUNE 25, 2009 – As a result of an investigation by the Security Intelligence Office at Warkworth Institution, on June 19th, 2009, an inmate visitor will be charged after attempting to smuggle contraband drugs through a Private Family visit. A package was seized containing approximately 51.5 grams of what is believed to be marijuana and tobacco.

Criminal and disciplinary charges can be laid against any individuals found to be involved in illegal activity.

CSC has a number of tools available that are consistently used in our efforts to control the flow of drugs into our institutions. These include such things as searches offenders, visitors, ion scanners, drug dogs and searches of buildings and cells.
