FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM FRONTENAC INSTITUTION

Kingston, Ontario, July 6, 2009 - Frontenac Institution staff discovered an inmate was missing at 8:00 AM when offender Kenneth McBain was not present for work at the institution. A stand up count was immediately called and staff searched the grounds but did not locate the offender. The police were immediately notified.

McBain is serving a 15 year; 10 month, 10 day sentence for numerous offences including Robbery, Assault, Property related offences and Breaches of Trust. McBain's sentence began May 2, 1997 and his warrant expiry date is March 11, 2013.

Frontenac Institution is a minimum security facility. It is located behind Collins Bay Institution on Bath Road.

The Correctional Service of Canada is working closely with police in an effort to locate the offender as quickly as possible and is investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
