FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TOBACCO SEIZURE AT PITTSBURGH INSTITUTION

Kingston, On – July 16, 2009 – On Wednesday, July 15, 2009, during a routine search, staff members discovered 22 clear plastic bags, each containing approximately 200 cigarettes. The quantity of cigarettes found has an estimated institutional value of approximately $22,000.

Tobacco has been an unauthorized item within all federal correctional facilities since June 2008.

Preventing drugs and unauthorized/contraband items from entering our institutions is an ongoing challenge, however, it is the diligent work of our staff that tackle this challenge.
