FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXCEPTIONAL SEARCH JOYCEVILLE INSTITUTION

Joyceville, Ontario, July 24, 2009 – On July 24th, following the discovery of weapons in common areas by staff, the Institutional Head has locked down the institution in order to facilitate a search of all inmates and the facility. Correctional Service Canada works to ensure the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates.

The facility will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so.

Members of the public attending the institution for visits are asked to contact the institution at 613-536-6400.
