FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DRUG SEIZURE AT COLLINS BAY INSTITUTION

Kingston, Ontario, August 4, 2009 - On Sunday, August 2, 2009 at approximately 3 p.m., correctional staff intercepted drugs in the family visit area during a scheduled visit. Staff seized a package containing approximately 48 grams of marijuana. The total estimated institutional value of the drugs intercepted is $4,800.

The inmates' visitor was detained and interviewed by the OPP Pen Squad. The visitor was later charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Preventing drugs from entering our institutions is an ongoing challenge for CSC and it's through the diligence of our staff that this seizure was made.
