FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kingston, Ontario, November 6, 2009 – On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Correctional Officers at Collins Bay Institution intercepted a package of tobacco which was hidden in the back of a TV. The package contained approximately 287 grams of tobacco with an estimated institutional value of $4,000.
Tobacco has been an unauthorized item within federal correctional facilities since 2008.
Preventing drugs and tobacco products from entering our institutions is an ongoing challenge; however, it is the diligent work of our staff that tackle this challenge.
