FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH - WARKWORTH INSTITUTION

KINGSTON, ON, November 22, 2009 – At approximately 5:50 p.m. on November 21, 2009, Warkworth Institution inmate James Wilson Brown died of natural causes while at Kingston General Hospital.

Mr. Brown was a 67-year-old inmate serving a Life sentence for First Degree Murder. He was sentenced on March 13, 1982.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will be conducting an investigation and a Coroner’s inquest may be convened at a later date.

Warkworth Institution is a medium-security institution which currently houses 569 male offenders.
