FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH OF AN OFFENDER AT FENBROOK INSTITUTION

Kingston, Ontario, December 30, 2009 - On December 29, 2009, Richard Joseph DENOMMEE, an inmate of Fenbrook Institution, died of natural causes while under care at the Kingston Penitentiary Regional Hospital.

Denommee was 57 years old and serving an Indeterminate Sentence beginning April 16, 1975 for convictions of Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon and Non-Capital Murder.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been called to investigate. Correctional Service Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
