FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DRUG AND TOBACCO INTERCEPTION - PITTSBURGH INSTITUTION

Kingston, Ontario, January 11, 2010 - On Sunday, January 10, 2010, at approximately 1035 hrs, staff at Pittsburgh Institution seized drugs and tobacco while conducting a routine search of visitors entering the institution. The visitor was carrying 37 ecstasy pills and two bails of tobacco with an estimated institutional value of $800.

With the assistance of the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad, the visitor was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The Correctional Service of Canada has a zero tolerance policy on drugs in our institutions. Our staff members, working with community partners, have prevented illicit drugs from entering our institution.
