BATH, ON, January 11, 2010 – On January 8, 2010 at approximately 2:00 p.m., staff at Millhaven Institution, with the assistance of the drug dog, performed a routine search and interview of a visitor and confiscated marijuana, hashish and tobacco. The combined estimated institutional value of the drug interception is $4000.
The OPP Penitentiary Squad was notified, and the visitor was charged and placed into custody.
Correctional Service Canada has dedicated staff who routinely demonstrate their ability through training and keen observation skills to control the flow of drugs into our institutions.
The authorities at Millhaven Institution wish to remind citizens that they can contact the institution directly at (613) 351-8106 to report any pressure to which a visitor may be subjected by other visitors and/or inmates involved in drug trafficking, intimidation, assault and loan sharking. Such information is treated with confidentiality, and a security intelligence officer will provide follow-up.
