FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH BY NATURAL CAUSES AT GRAND VALLEY INSTITUTION

Kitchener Ontario, January 14, 2010 - On January 13, 2010 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Carol Diane Brandi BOUCHARD, an inmate residing at the Grand Valley Institution, died of natural causes while under care at the St. Mary's General Hospital.

Carol Bouchard was a 61-year-old offender serving an Indeterminate Sentence for first degree murder. Her sentence commenced February 17, 1990. Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. Correctional Service Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
