FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXCEPTIONAL SEARCH ENDS AT KINGSTON PENITENTIARY

Kingston, Ontario, February 10, 2010 - On February 9, 2010 Kingston Penitentiary returned to normal routine following completion of the exceptional search of the Institution that began on February 3, 2010.

During this search, correctional staff found homemade weapons, brew and brew-making materials, as well as tattoo paraphernalia.

The Institution remains quiet. The Correctional Service of Canada is committed to taking all measures necessary to ensure a safe environment in our facilities.
