FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM BEAVER CREEK INSTITUTION

Gravenhurst, Ontario, February 12, 2010 – At approximately 8:35 pm on Thursday February 11, 2010, staff discovered a dummy in the room of inmate Arron England during a routine count. England was last seen on the premises at approximately 7:00 pm. The grounds were searched and the inmate was confirmed to be missing. Police were immediately notified.

Arron England is serving an 8 year and 7 month sentence for Participation in Activities of a Criminal Organization, Conspire to Commit an Indictable Offence X2 and Possession of Counterfeit Money. His sentence commenced on May 17, 2006. His statutory release date is February 5, 2012 and his warrant expires on December 16, 2014.

Beaver Creek Institution is a minimum security facility. It is located adjacent to Fenbrook Institution in the District of Muskoka. Only those offenders who are assessed as having a low risk to public safety are placed in a minimum security institution.

The Correctional Service of Canada is working closely with police in an effort to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

As in all escapes, CSC will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances of this incident.
