FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXCEPTIONAL SEARCH JOYCEVILLE INSTITUTION

Joyceville, Ontario, February 22, 2010 - On February 22nd, 2010, inmates at Joyceville Institution were placed under lockdown status, in order to facilitate a search of the facility. This was initiated by the Warden to ensure the safety and security of staff and inmates following information received of the existence of possible contraband.

Visits are suspended until the conclusion of the search.

The safety and security of our institutions and the public is our primary objective. The institution will return to normal operations once the Warden determines it is safe to do so.

Members of the public attending the institution for visits are asked to contact the institution at 613-536-6400.
