END TO LOCKDOWN AT FENBROOK INSTITUTION

Gravenhurst, Ontario, March 8th 2010 – On Monday March 8th 2010 at 1100hrs Fenbrook Institution returned to normal institutional operations following a six day search of the facility.

The search was ordered by the Warden following the interception of weapons and information that there was contraband within the institution.

Searching of the institution produced a number of contraband items including homemade weapons and loose pills. All of these items have been seized. Institutional charges are in progress for the offenders found in possession of unauthorized items.

The lockdown was put in place in order to facilitate a search of the facility while ensuring the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates.
