INMATE DEATH, KINGSTON PENITENTIARY REGIONAL TREATMENT CENTRE

Kingston, Ontario, March 8, 2010 - At approximately 1200 hours on March 6, 2010, Thomas Hillis passed away from natural causes at Kingston General Hospital. The inmate was from the Regional Treatment Centre and had been at KGH since Mar. 2, 2010.

Thomas Hillis was serving a life sentence as a dangerous offender for various sexual offences that took place over a 30 year span between 1964 and 1994. His sentence began Jan, 24, 1997. As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified.
