FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXCEPTIONAL SEARCH AT WARKWORTH INSTITUTION

Cambellford, Ontario, March 28, 2010 - On Sunday March 28, 2010 at approximately 1:30 pm Warkworth Institution was placed under lockdown status in order to facilitate an exceptional search. This lockdown was initiated by the Warden to ensure the safety and security of staff and inmates after the discovery of a number of weapons during the last 24 hours.

Visits have been temporarily postponed at this time.

The safety and security of our Institutions and the general public remain our primary objective. The Institution will return to a normal routine once management has determined that it is safe to do so.
