FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH BY NATURAL CAUSES

Kingston, Ontario, June 1, 2010 – On June 1, 2010 at approximately 1:35 a.m., William SYPES, a Warkworth Institution inmate residing at the Kingston Regional Treatment Centre, died of natural causes while under care at an outside hospital.

William SYPES was serving an indeterminate sentence as a Dangerous Offender, beginning October 7, 1994, for numerous sexual offences. Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will also review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
