Kingston Ontario, July 22, 2010, Pittsburgh Institution - On Thursday, July 22nd, 2010, acting on information from the Security Intelligence department of Pittsburgh Institution, staff members discovered 42.52 grams of marijuana, a small amount of loose tobacco, a cell phone charger and battery. The quantity of marijuana found in a common area has an estimated institutional value of $4,250.
As part of its Transformation Agenda, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is strengthening measures to prevent contraband from entering institutions, in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone, and promote a rehabilitative environment for inmates. CSC also works in partnership with the police to prosecute inmates and others who attempt to have contraband brought into correctional institutions.
