FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BATH, ON, July 30 2010 - On Thursday, July 29 staff recovered a mixed quantity of pills and marijuana within a work location. The drugs were located on the property but were not located inside the facility. The combined institutional value of the drugs is estimated at $92,000.
The OPP Pen Squad has been contacted and is investigating. Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is also launching an internal investigation due to location in which the drugs were recovered.
Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
As part of its Transformation Agenda, CSC is strengthening measures to prevent contraband from entering institutions, in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone, and promote a rehabilitative environment for inmates. CSC also works in partnership with the police to prosecute inmates and others who attempt to have contraband brought into correctional institutions.
