FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH, BATH INSTITUTION

BATH, ONTARIO, September 13, 2010 - On Saturday, September 11, 2010 at approximately 2:10 am, Gerald Benoit, an inmate from Bath Institution, died at an outside hospital from natural causes.

Gerald Benoit was serving a life sentence for First Degree Murder. His sentence began February 16, 1989. Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. Correctional Service of Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
