Gravenhurst, Ontario, November 17, 2010 – At approximately 5:00 p.m. on November 16, 2010, Beaver Creek Institution was notified that offender Frederick Craig Johnson failed to report to his destination while on an unescorted temporary absence into the community. His destination was in the Greater Toronto area.
Offender JOHNSON is serving a 22-year sentence for robbery, which commenced October 28, 1997.
The Correctional Service of Canada immediately contacted the police and a warrant has been issued for the offender's arrest.
CSC is working closely with the joint Ontario Provincial Police and Toronto Metro Police Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad in an effort to locate this offender as quickly as possible. CSC has given the police all available information to assist in the offender's recapture.
Temporary absences may be granted for a variety of valid reasons, such as medical, community service, family contact, in keeping with an offender’s correctional plan.- 30 -
