FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Beaver Creek Institution - Offender Unlawfully At Large

Gravenhurst, Ontario, February 18, 2011 - At 5:00 p.m. on February 18, 2011, Offender Ashley CRAWFORD failed to return to Beaver Creek Institution at the end of an unescorted temporary absence into the community. He had been on an unescorted temporary absence granted by the Parole Board of Canada to Peterborough, Ontario.

Offender CRAWFORD Date of birth 1981-06-05, is described as a Caucasian Male, Height of 178 cm (5’ 10”); weight 70 kg (154 lbs); brown hair and blue eyes. Crawford is serving Life Sentence for Murder which commenced May 25, 2001.

The Correctional Service of Canada immediately contacted the Ontario Provincial Police and a warrant has been issued for the offender's arrest.

CSC is working closely with the Ontario Provincial Police in an effort to locate this offender as quickly as possible. CSC has given the police all available information to assist in the offender's recapture.

Temporary absences may be granted for a variety of valid reasons, such as medical, community service, family contact, in keeping with an offender’s correctional plan.
