FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

END TO LOCKDOWN AND EXCEPTIONAL SEARCH - JOYCEVILLE INSTITUTION

KINGSTON, ONTARIO, February 22, 2011 – The lockdown at Joyceville Institution initiated on Monday, February 14, 2011 has concluded. The Institution has returned to normal operations.

During the search, staff seized a number of contraband items.

Visits have been re-instated effective Monday, February 21, 2011.

The safety and security of the institution is our primary objective. This exceptional search was a proactive measure to maintain a safe environment within the institution.
