FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH, KINGSTON PENITENTIARY

Mar 11, 2011, Kingston, Ontario – At approximately 7:30 pm on March 9, 2011, Kevin Mayer, an inmate at Kingston Penitentiary, passed away from natural causes at the Kingston Penitentiary Regional Hospital.

Kevin Mayer (47) was serving a 2 year 7 month sentence for robbery. His sentence began September 8, 2008 and his warrant expiry was set for July 6, 2011. Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. Correctional Services of Canada will also review all circumstances surrounding this death.
