FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Frontenac Institution – Inmate Apprehended

Kingston, Ont. – March 18, 2011 – On March 17, 2011 at approximately 4 p.m. a staff member observed an inmate leaving the institutional property and notified Security. Shortly thereafter, the offender was located in a parking lot near the Frontenac Mall by Correctional staff. With the assistance of two off-duty Kingston Police Officers, the inmate was apprehended and returned to the institution.

The inmate, Camren Phon, is serving a two-year sentence for a number of offenses including Break and Enter, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Failure to Comply and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

This inmate has been transferred to a higher security institution.

CSC evaluates all offenders and places them in facilities appropriate to their security and program requirements.

CSC reviews the circumstances surrounding all escapes and takes action where necessary.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
