FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH, PITTSBURGH INSTITUTION

Kingston Ontario, May 27, 2011 – On May 27, 2011 at approximately 6:35am, Offender Herman Vaneck, an inmate residing at the Institution, died of natural causes.

Offender Herman Vaneck was a 75 year old offender serving a 4 year sentence for Sexual Interference. Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. Correctional Service of Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
