Kingston Ontario, June 27, 2011 – On Saturday, June 25th, Correctional Officers at Pittsburgh Institution intercepted an inmate visitor attempting to bring drugs and unauthorized items into the institution. The visitor had in their vehicle, 1 gram of hash, 40 Oxycotin pills and 1 pouch of tobacco with an estimated institutional value of $1900.
With the assistance of the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad, the visitor was arrested and charged with possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
CSC works closely with local police agencies and communities to stop drugs from entering its institutions. CSC also works in partnership with the police to prosecute inmates and others who attempt to have contraband brought into correctional institutions.
