FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH, BATH INSTITUTION

Kingston Ontario, July 18, 2011 – On July 17, 2011 at approximately 5:00 pm, Jeffrey Thompson, an inmate from Bath Institution, died at Kingston General Hospital from natural causes.

Mr. Thompson (45) was serving a sentence of three years, sixteen days for Armed Robbery, Break and Enter and Possession of Property obtained by Crime. His sentence began March 11, 2009.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. Correctional Service of Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
