Drug Seizure – Fenbrook Institution

Gravenhurst Ontario, August 24, 2011, Fenbrook Institution – On Saturday August 20, 2011, a visitor was observed by staff attempting to introduce drug contraband into the Institution. Security staff conducted a search of the visitor and recovered the drug contraband.

With the assistance of the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police detachment, the visitor was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.  Additional charges are pending.

CSC has a number of tools available that are consistently used in our efforts to control the flow of drugs into our institutions.

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) continues to strengthen measures to prevent contraband from entering institutions, in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone, and to promote a rehabilitative environment for inmates. CSC also works closely together with our police partners to prosecute inmates and others who attempt to have contraband brought into our correctional institutions.
