FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOCKDOWN - MILLHAVEN INSTITUTION

Bath, Ontario, September 12, 2011 - On Sunday, September 11, 2011 at approximately 8:00 p.m., offenders from Millhaven Institution Maximum Security Unit refused to return to their cells from the recreation area.  As a result, the Institution has been placed on lockdown status. The situation is being addressed and offenders are currently returning to their cells.

All visits have been cancelled until further notice.

The Institution will return to normal routine once the Warden determines that it is safe to do so.

Ensuring the safety and security of our institutions, staff and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
