MISSION, B.C., January 12, 2004 - After an extensive search, Mission Institution resumed normal operations on January 11.
Inmates were locked in their cells January 5 after a series of incidents involving alcohol, drugs, suspected inmate assaults, increase in protective custody requests and weapons seizures.
Staff found and confiscated several contraband items during the search.
Mission Institution is a medium security federal facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located just north of Mission and currently houses 278 male offenders.
