ABBOTSFORD, B.C., February 9, 2004 - The Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA) has renewed the Regional Treatment Centre (Pacific) status as an accredited psychiatric facility.
CCHSA is the major national accrediting body for organizations across all health care sectors in Canada, whose purpose is to assist organizations improve the services they provide to their communities. It is a non-government, non-profit organization started in 1958 by health organizations to implement an accreditation program for health services. CCHSA's accreditation program is recognized by provincial, federal and recently by international health care organizations.
The Regional Treatment Centre (Pacific) is a comprised of a 19 bed medical hospital and a 96 bed psychiatric hospital. Medical services are provided to 3000 federal offenders in custody and on conditional release in the Pacific region.
The Regional Treatment Centre is located in Abbotsford. It is co-located with Pacific Institution, which includes the Regional Reception and Assessment Centre; and a High Intensity Programming Unit.
