FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AGASSIZ, BC, April 28, 2004 - Mountain Institution returned to normal routine today after being locked down on April 21 to facilitate an exceptional search. On April 26 and 27 the institution was on a modified routine.

On April 21 a number of live rounds and parts of two potential homemade guns were discovered inside one of the buildings at Mountain Institution. No further ammunition or components for homemade guns were found as a result of the exceptional search.

Mountain Institution is a medium security facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located in Agassiz and currently houses 452 Federally sentenced, male inmates.
