FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AGASSIZ, B.C., September 9, 2004 - Kent Institution is locked down today following a bomb threat in the institution last evening.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. a note was found in an inmate request box indicating that there was a bomb in the building. The institution was ordered locked down and all non-essential staff were evacuated.
The institution is currently being searched by correctional officers with the assistance of the RCMP.
Kent Institution is a federal male maximum-security institution located 120 kilometers east of Vancouver. The institution contains 3 Living Units, currently housing a total of 255 inmates.
