AGASSIZ, B.C., November 2, 2004 - The lockdown at Mountain Institution that began at approximately 4:15 p.m. on October 30 was lifted at 10:30 a.m. today following the completion of an exceptional search for illegal drugs. Although a number of drug paraphernalia items were found, no significant quantity of illegal drugs was found.
The Institution returned to normal weekday routine this afternoon. Regularly scheduled visits to the Institution and scheduled events will occur.
Mountain Institution is a medium security facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located in Agassiz, B.C. and currently houses 463 federally sentenced, male offenders.
