FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT THE REGIONAL TREATMENT CENTRE

ABBOTSFORD, B.C., November 3, 2004 - An inmate died this morning of natural causes in the institutional hospital at the Regional Treatment Centre.

Jerrald Swanson, age 52, was pronounced dead in the institution.

He was serving a two-year sentence for failure to comply with a probation order. His sentence commenced March 24, 2004.

The coroner and police have been notified and have attended the institution.

Next of kin have been notified.

The Pacific Institution and Regional Treatment Centre are located in Abbotsford B.C. The facilities include a 19-bed medical hospital, 96-bed psychiatric hospital, 96-bed rehabilitation unit, 96-bed program unit and a 96-bed regional reception and assessment centre.
