FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ABBOTSFORD, B.C., January 7, 2005 - An inmate died of apparent self inflicted injury at the Regional Treatment Centre on January 6, 2005.
Christopher Milke, age 44, was pronounced dead at the institution. Mr. Milke was serving a life sentence for second degree murder. His sentence commenced January 26, 1995.
The coroner and police have been notified and have attended the institution.
Next of kin have been notified.
The Pacific Institution and Regional Treatment Centre are co-located in Abbotsford. The facility includes a 19 bed medical hospital, 96 bed psychiatric hospital, 96 bed rehabilitation unit, 127 bed program unit and a 96 bed regional reception and assessment centre.
