FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ASSAULT AND LOCKDOWN AT MOUNTAIN INSTITUTION - UPDATE
AGASSIZ, BC, January 19, 2005 - Mountain Institution returned to normal operation January 18 following a lock down to conduct a search of a living unit where an inmate was stabbed.
The incident occurred on January 17. The inmate suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Mountain Institution is a medium security facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located in Agassiz and currently houses 476 federally sentenced, male inmates.
