FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ABBOTSFORD, BC, May 24, 2005 - A Matsqui Institution inmate died of natural causes on May 22 at MSA Hospital in Abbotsford.

Terry Meidel, age 68, was pronounced dead at MSA Hospital. He had been in hospital since May 3, due to respiratory failure.

Mr. Meidel was serving a 15-year sentence for a number of offences including: trafficking in narcotic, import/export narcotic, kidnap/unlawfully confine, and escape lawful custody.

Next of kin have been notified.
