FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT KENT INSTITUTION

AGASSIZ, B.C., July 22, 2005 - An inmate died of non-violent causes on July 21 in his cell at Kent Institution.

Michel Provost, 49, was pronounced dead in the institution.

He was serving an indeterminate sentence as a dangerous offender for sex-related offences. His sentence commenced June 30, 1997.

The coroner and police were notified and attended the institution. An autopsy will be completed to determine the cause of death.

Kent Institution is a federal maximum-security institution located 120 kilometers east of Vancouver. The institution currently houses 236 inmates.
