FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AGASSIZ, BC, September 12, 2005 - The lockdown at Mountain Institution has ended. Mountain was locked down on September 8 to facilitate a search of the cells, buildings and grounds of the institution.

Several homemade weapons were found during the search. Two areas of the institution will remain loc

ked down to facilitate further searching. The institutional routine, however, has returned to normal.

Mountain Institution is a federal male medium-security institution located 120 kilometers east of Vancouver. The institution contains five living units, currently housing a total of 456 inmates.
