FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ABBOTSFORD, BC, September 18, 2005 - A Regional Treatment Centre inmate died of natural causes at an outside hospital in Abbotsford today.

William Patrick TURPIN, 57, was pronounced dead in a community hospital where he was being treated. Mr. TURPIN was serving a life sentence for first degree murder. His sentence commenced 2005/04/10. Next of kin have been notified.

The Regional Treatment Centre and Pacific Institution are co-located in Abbotsford. The facility includes a 19-bed medical hospital, 96-bed psychiatric hospital, 96-bed rehabilitation unit, 127-bed program unit and a 96-bed Regional Reception and Assessment Centre.
